Spring Coffee Lover's Blog Hop!

Hi there! Happy FRIDAY!!! I'm off work today to take my final exam for my FINAL CLASS!! WOOHOO!! Finally going to finish this BS degree and never take another class in my life, I'm too old for this crap, ha!! Before I take my final, I had to get some crafting done and there is no better way than to participate in this week's Spring Coffee Lover's Blog HOp!!!
SpringCoffeeLoversBH-01
I had so so so much fun on this card! It was purely a "for fun" card, and even though ALL my cards are fun, it's fun to create something where you can mix and match goodies from all different manufacturer's and I'm just amazed at how well everything can go together:)

The patterned papers are from Maggie Holmes Confetti Collection, as is the little polka dot and burlap heart! I started by working all my layers around and finding a layout I wanted. I hadn't orginally planned on it be so many layers, but once I started I couldn't stop, ha! I used some of the DELICOUS new Cracked Pistachio Distress ink and watercolored a bit of a background to peek out from behind the layers, I love the softness it created on a pretty layered card. The coral piece is Persimmon from MFT, the mint color is from SSS. The coffee dies are from MFT, the Hello die from Avery Elle, and the "coffee" word stamp from Verve's set, aptly named "Coffee"! I used a PPP border die for the mint cardstock, and the sequins are also from Verve!

Hope you have some time today to hop around to all the lovely blogs today! Thanks so much for stopping by today:)

Espresso, anyone?

I don't know about you, but I could ALWAYS drink an espresso:) I really love this set, Be a Barista, from Reverse Confetti. Such a fun set! I played with this week's new Retro Sketch and my RC stamps and dies!

I sprayed some Walnut Stain Distress Ink Spray on a piece of watercolor paper to achieve the spilled coffee look and the coffee looks milky still because I didn't wait long enough for the dimensional glaze to dry, ha!

Thanks for stopping by today, hope you have a great Monday!

Just a Note!

Hello there! I'm here today with a quick little card I created for this week's MFT sketch challenge!

I got my new MFT inks and cardstock in their newest colors and just HAD to play with them! I set out to look for a challenge and found MFT had just posted their newest sketch challenge, super fun one!

Here's my card using a bunch of new Reverse Confetti goodies!

I cut the largest scalloped circle from Circles n' Scallops out of the white panel and popped it up on foam tape. I cut the smaller circle from the same Confetti Cuts set and stamped the stripes from So Stripey. I cut out the Love Blooms flowers with the Love Blooms Confetti Cuts and then stamped them in some of the luscious new ink colors! I cut out a flag panel using the flag die from Tag Me, added some clear sequins and some twine and that's it! Super fun sketch!

Have a fabulous FRIDAY!!!

As a last detail, I added red twine and some Stickles to one of the hearts on the QCP!

Reverse Confetti February Blog Hop

Hi, friends! Happy Sunday! Sunday just may be my favorite day of the week...sleep in, lots of coffee, crafting, reading, and rain:) And on the 8th of the month, a Reverse Confetti Blog Hop! You should have come to me from Leigh's beautiful blog! If you didn't start at the beginning, it's never too late! Start at the Reverse Confetti Blog for a full hop list!

This month, our theme is ABC *anything but a card!* I usually shy away from these types of challenges, they scare me! I'm not good at treat containers and ideas like that. So I thought I'd go a different way and make some tags!

I went to one of Julie Ebersole's classes at Impress today and met up with Amy Tsuruta, Chitali Narla, and a few other new friends! It was soOOOOoo much fun! We made several CAS cards, and had a blast! After all that clean and simple, I was really itching to get messy, so I turned to some gesso, distress inks, distress sprays, and had some fun! I have a small tutorial on how I created these gesso resist backgrounds, lets get started!

First, gather your supplies! Gesso, Distress Inks, Sponge tools, cardstock (I used PTI white cardstock), and stamps (Whole Lotta Hearts by Reverse Confetti)

Next up, you want paint some gesso onto your stamps and then stamp onto the cardstock. I didn't get a picture of this part of the process, but my best piece of advise is to use one of those cheap foam brushes for the gesso and lightly spread the gesso on your stamp. Don't go too thick with the gesso or it'll be gloopy (is that a word? LOL) This is what your cardstock will look like after the gesso dries!

It'll be hard to see unless you get the lighting just right:) Make sure your gesso is 100% dry before moving on to this next step!

The next step is to start applying your distress inks onto the cardstock. The gesso will resist the ink and you'll get a tone on tone kind of effect. Super fun! DOn't be afraid to really load up on the ink on your sponge tool, lots of ink will create lots of contrast!

I really like how the inking revealed some imperfections in the stamped gesso hearts, it's so cool! I love this technique, hope you give it a try! Here are a few detail pics of my tags. The second tag was created using the same technique, only with Wild Honey, Peeled Paint, and Evergreen Bough Distress Inks.

Love You tag:

Here is a close up of the cheesecloth I added! I died the cheesecloth with Festive Berries and Picked Raspberries Distress Ink Spray! I also got some sparkly Fun Foam at Impress today, and cut out the arrow and "you" from the black and pink sparkly fun foam, so fun!

I Woof You Tag

That's all I have today, thank you SOOOO much for stopping by! Now you're off to Stacey's amazingly fun blog! Enjoy the rest of the hop and see you around!

Clean and Simple Love

Hey there! Here today with a quick card using Heart to Heart by Reverse Confetti!

I recently took the Online Cards Class - Clean and Simple 4 and used a masking technique to create this card.

To create the inked background, I used a long piece of Post It tape and sponged on the edge of the tape blending the color out, and then moved the tape over and applied more ink. The yellow ink is Wild Honey Distress Ink. The hearts were cut out with the Heart to Heart Confetti Cuts and then stamped with the coordinating stamps from Heart to Heart. The gold glitter "you" is from the Tag Me Too Confetti Cuts. To finish the card off, I added some gold sequins and some black ink drops.

That's all I have for today, thanks so much for stopping by!
